چکیده

Fig. 1.Claw like deformity of both hands, right sided tibial hemimelia with hypoplastic three toed foot and a transverse cleft on planter side of left foot. Tibial hemimelia-split hand/foot syndrome (TH-SHFM) is a rare constellation of multiple congenital malformations which includes Ectrodactyly (Lobster claw deformity or Cleft hand/foot) with a wide range of phenotypes of absent tibia/tibial hemimelia or long bone deficiency(1,2). We describe a proposita with these characteristic anomalies in absence of family history of malformations. This was associated with sacral agenesis, anorectal atresia, hemi-vertebra and ventricular septal defect, hither to undescribed.

Split-Hand/Foot Malformation with Long Bone Deficiency 1

Congenital deficiency of the tibia (tibial hemimelia, aplasia, or dysplasia) also known as long bone deficiency is a rare and severe lower limb malformation, with an incidence of approximately 1:1,000,000 live births. It is characterized by lack of part or the entire tibia, with relatively intact fibula. Usually the affected leg is rotated externally and the ventral surface of the foot faces th...

Syndactyly type IV/hexadactyly of feet associated with unilateral absence of the tibia.

We report on a newborn girl with syndactyly type IV, hexadactyly of feet, and right tibial hemimelia. She has 5 other relatives with identical anomalies of the hands and feet transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait. Syndactyly type IV is rare as is absence of the tibia. We suggest the possibility that syndactyly type IV may be a more complex entity, including lower limb malformations, and tr...

Bilateral tibial hemimelia type 1 (1a and 1b) with T9 and T10 hemivertebrae: a novel association.

CONTEXT Congenital absence of the tibia is a rare anomaly with an incidence of one per 1,000,000 live births. It is mostly sporadic and can be identified as an isolated disorder or as part of malformation syndromes. CASE REPORT A male child, born to unaffected and non-consanguineous parents, presented with shortening of the legs and adduction of both feet. Physical examination at six months of ...

Tibial hemimelia: new classification and reconstructive options

Tibial hemimelia is a rare congenital lower limb deficiency presenting with a wide spectrum of associated congenital anomalies, deficiencies and duplications. Reconstructive options have been limited, and the gold standard for treatment has remained amputation with prosthetic fitting. There is now a better understanding of the genetics, etiology and pathoanatomy of tibial hemimelia. Armed with ...

Clinical Results and Complications of Lower Limb Lengthening for Fibular Hemimelia

Fibular hemimelia is a rare but the most common congenital long bone deficiency, encompassing a broad range of anomalies from isolated fibular hypoplasia up to substantial femoral and tibial shortening with ankle deformity and foot deficiency. Most cases of fibular hemimelia manifest clinically significant leg length discrepancy (LLD) with time that requires adequate correction by bone lengthen...
